The games of Carnasciale-27,28 April

On 27th and 28th April 2013, the Parco delle Cascine of Florence (the largest public park of the city) will host the “Games of ‘Carnasciale’ ” inspired by the famous Historical Florentine Soccer that used to be played during Carnival (or ‘Carnasciale’) days. On 27th at 12 pm there will be a match of this ancient sport that’s still played nowadays. But this is not the only sport/activity that the Florentine used to do in the Middle Ages and this event aims to display many different medieval ‘figures’: bowmen, knightmen, flag-waving performers, hawkers will perform in colorful and striking tournaments! There will also be workshops on the Medieval Florentine society and stands for tasting medieval specialties.
