A lovely place to spend some time away from the crowded center of Florence, but not too far from it! From 25th April to 1st May 2013 the Giardino dell’Orticoltura of Florence (‘Horticulture Garden’) located in Via Vittorio Emanuele II, will host the colorful Springtime Fair of Flowers & Plants with many farmers coming from all over Italy and presenting a large choice of flowers, plants and gardening equipment. In addition, the famous ‘Tepidarium’ (greenhouse) of the garden will be opened again after several years of restoration works. The Tepidarium was built at the end the XIXth century by the architect Giacomo Roster. At that time, this huge building made of iron and glass, was the largest greenhouse of Italy. On 25th the mayor of Florence, Matteo Renzi, will inaugurate its opening and on occasion of the flower fair it will house an exhibition of watercolors depicting botanical subjects. The Flowers & Plants Fair is open from 9 am to 7.30 pm and the entrance is free.
